The “International ITU Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress’21” is one of the biggest science events in Turkey. This year will be held between October 1st – 3rd 2021 and will brings together scientists that carry out high quality research in different areas of life sciences with Molecular Biology and Genetics undergraduates and facilitates interaction and communication between these groups.
Enrique Carrillo leader of Computational Biology group in IMDEA Food Institute, Madrid (Spain), will give a lecture on October 1st at 10.55 a.m CEST time based on the role of supplement foods to prevent non-communicable diseases (e.g: cancer, cardiovascular, others) have increased during the last years.
Recently, researchers have noted a significant increase in food/diet-drug interactions (Choi et al, 2017). These interactions could be negative decreasing drug bioavailability or blocking the mechanism of action (Chen et al, 2018), and positive maximizing the drug effect (Hopkins et al., 2018), reducing side effects or both (Kanarek et al, 2018).
However, food/diet-drug interactions are quite challenging as food consumption is not well documented on patient profiles and when interactions information is available, it is dispersed in the scientific literature, clinical trial reports, package leaflets for medicine and others. In fact, although some efforts have been made to organize this type of information these databases contain limited and incomplete annotations with low overlapping between them.
This year at the International ITU Molecular Biology and Genetics Student Congress’21 there will be 6 different sessions listed below:
Session I- BIOINFORMATICS
Session II- BIO/NANOTECHNOLOGY
Session III- EPIGENETICS
Session IV- GENE THERAPY
Session V- NEUROSCIENCE
Session VI- VIROLOGY
The Congress will be broadcast live on Youtube on 1-2-3 October 2021 and is certified according to participation. To register for this free congress click here
